J.D Crowe announces retirement after 2012 touring season
J.D. Crowe announced last week that he will retire from actively touring after the 2012 touring season.
J.D. Crowe, one of the most important band leaders influencing the growth of the bluegrass genre, became a household name as leader of his band The New South, which gained significant notoriety with the release of a self-titled 1975 album on Rounder Records. a host of influencial musicians were a part of The New South over the years, including Ricky Skaggs, Keith Whitley, Tony Rice, Jerry Douglas and Doyle Lawson.
